Hey there!
My name is Emily Carter and I spend most of my days helping high schoolers, college students, and their families find scholarships to help fund their education. I spent years as a college admissions counselor watching students (and their parents!) struggle with the financial burden of paying for higher education. What shocked me most was the lack of knowledge that most students had about the vast amount scholarship opportunities available to them to help offset costs. Finally, I decided that something had to be done.
My journey into Scholarship Nerd started slowly as a passion side-hustle. I'd find a few scholarships here and there to share with incoming students. Mostly, I was just doing this as a way to illustrate to people the variety of funding opportunities available. But then, it clicked! Why not go all-in and make my passion project a full-time gig? There's definitely no shortage of families who need help paying for college.
Scholarship Nerd was officially born!
These days, you'll most likely find me at my desk with my dog nearby scouring the web for new scholarship opportunities, updating important information in my database about existing funds, or drafting blog posts to share with you here on the Scholarship Nerd site.
